19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his first championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet defended four early chances in a tight third set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
